Our social studies objectives for the next few weeks are to explain the causes and events of the Civil War. In class today, we brainstormed words dealing with the Civil War, reviewed what we have already learned this year about the issue of slavery, read a emotionally moving picture book today about a slave family, and discussed a map and time line of the 1860s.
